Emily CalandrelliOur first guest is Emily Calandrelli, the Science TV host known as The Space Gal will discuss a common goal – provide a clean, safe ride to school for students and how propane school buses achieve a cleaner today for a greener tomorrow. We will Discover Why a Super Scientist is Working with the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) to Better our Buses.

The way kids ride to school today is very much the way children rode to school 25 years ago—in an aging diesel school bus. We now know that diesel school buses are not only expensive to operate, but they are harmful to children’s health, the community, and the climate. Today, there are two clean energy choices to replace diesel: propane or electric. And propane reduces the harm at a fraction of the cost. She will discuss why Buses that use propane are quieter, healthier, and result in fewer discipline problems. 1.3 million children ride to school in 22,000 school buses across the country. Propane buses are one-third the price of electric school buses. Replacing diesel buses with propane buses would save enough money to hire 23 thousand of new teachers in the classroom. Emily is an MIT engineer turned Emmy-nominated science TV host and author. She’s the Host and Co-Executive Producer of Emily’s Wonder Lab on Netflix. She is featured as a correspondent on Netflix’s Bill Nye Saves the World and an Executive Producer and host of FOX’s Xploration Outer Space. Emily is the author of the picture book Reach for the Stars, the science experiment book Stay Curious and Keep Exploring, and the science chapter book series “The Ada Lace Adventures.” The third book in the series was launched to the International Space Station through the Story Time from Space program.
