Our guest today is Tim Swift, Founder & CEO, Roam Robotics. Today will be discussing how the company is expanding Human Mobility With Wearable Robotics. Lightweight, low cost, wearable robotic devices that can be easily integrated into everyday life. Ascend, a first-of-its-kind smart knee orthosis that helps wearers reduce knee pain and improve mobility, is available for pre-orders. Roam’s proprietary technology generates unmatched power-to-weight ratio, utilizes scalable manufacturing techniques and harnesses innovative AI-informed. It is a registered Class I device with the FDA and will be available for purchase directly and covered by private and Medicare insurance, radically expanding public accessibility to wearable robotic devices.
Dr. Swift holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley where he developed the technical foundations for many of the commercial exoskeletons used today. Tim was an early employee at Ekso Bionics and was one of the original 3-person team that invented Ekso, their lower extremity rigid exoskeleton for gait rehabilitation and paraplegic mobility. In 2013, Tim joined Otherlab to help develop a new type of robotic platform that would greatly reduce weight and cost without sacrificing capabilities. It was this effort to make robots that are accessible and practical enough for everyday life that led to the founding of Roam. For more information about Ascend, visit: www.ascend.health
