Financial Advisor, Joseph B. Peterson Jr.Our second guest is Joseph B Peterson Jr., an Edward Jones Financial Advisor. Financial literacy is important for all teens and young adults, but it’s not a skill taught at school or home. That’s one of the reasons Edward Jones developed the Financial Fitness Initiative. The Financial Fitness Initiative was created in 2020 and included an in-school investing basics course for teens, resulting in a 55% increase in financial knowledge. So far, the program has helped over 485,000 students, nearing the halfway point of their 1 million learner goal. The program is designed to help people who lack information establish and strengthen their financial wellness. Mr. Peterson will discuss the Financial Fitness program, the courses available, and how Edward Jones plans to grow the program.

Mr. Peterson is an Edward Jones financial advisor. He is an alumnus of both West Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University. In 2022, he earned the Certified Financial Planner certification, which expanded his knowledge base in financial management, tax-sensitive investment strategies, retirement savings, insurance planning, education planning, and estate considerations. In 2019, Peterson received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  For more information on the Financial Fitness Initiative, visit, www.edwardjones.com/us-en/market-news-insights/investor-education/financial-fitness
