Our last guest is Christina McClelland, author of A Circle Of Chalk, McClelland has written a gripping novel that allows the voices of thousands of women to be heard. Even in 2022, IVF is hard. It is unpredictable and it is not a guarantee. Described as a roller-coaster on steroids, the journey to parenthood can be joyous or devastating. This book sheds light on both sides of the coin, with twists and turns around every corner. Her debut novel, A Circle of Chalk, aims to encourage open discussion about infertility, embryo adoption and dispensation, and mental illness. She believes that when women gather, they can share, and when they share, they feel heard—and that is when healing can begin. A Circle Of Chalk is based on true stories in order for a fraction of those voices to be heard. Ongoing virtual book discussions led by Christina and others create an open and safe environment for women to share experiences related to infertility and mental illness.

A CIRCLE OF CHALK highlights moral and ethical dilemmas many couples face in their pursuit of a child via IVF and depression, isolation, and anxiety related to the strenuous process. The story is about New York City socialite Jenna Ellis, who endures a painful and very public divorce from her high-powered ex-husband only to have one more gut-wrenching blow—all three of the couple’s remaining embryos—and Jenna’s only chance to have more children—are awarded to Ed, who, in a cruel twist opts to allow Jenna to pick a single embryo to save. In this modern-day Sophie’s Choice, Jenna is faced with a decision that will define the next thirty years of her life.
