Dr. Elizabeth Budde & Patient Renee Discuss New Follicular Lymphoma (FL) Options

Dr. Elizabeth Budde, a hematologist-oncologist at City of Hope Our next guests on “Lets Just Talk,” are Dr. Elizabeth Budde, a hematologist-oncologist at City of Hope, a cancer treatment and research center outside of Los Angeles, along with Renee, a patient with FL. Did you know that approximately every three minutes, someone in the United States is diagnosed with blood cancer? They will discuss The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved, under accelerated approval, a first-of-its-kind treatment for adult patients whose disease has relapsed or not responded to at least two prior treatments, helping to expand therapeutic options for people with FL.

Most Common Types of Blood Cancer

Did you know one of the most common types of blood cancer non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL), which affects white blood cells in the lymph system – part of the immune system that helps fight infections. There are two major types of NHL, aggressive and slow-growing. The most common slow-growing type of NHL is follicular lymphoma (FL). People with FL often experience periods of remission and relapse. Among people with FL who do not respond to initial treatment or whose cancer continues to come back after periods of remission, the disease becomes more difficult to treat each time it returns. That’s why having multiple treatment options available to patients is so important, especially therapies that can be accessed in an outpatient setting, which can allow patients to receive treatment close to home rather than needing to travel to a specialized center. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved, under accelerated approval, a first-of-its-kind treatment for adult patients whose disease has relapsed or not responded to at least two prior treatments, helping to expand therapeutic options for people with FL.  For more informationgo to: https://www.lunsumio.com.
